I've had a rough couple of weeks. Last week was especially terrible. Luckily, I spent some time on Friday morning with a person who put everything into perspective & re-set my brain. To celebrate my re-entry into some semblance of normalcy, John & I made dinner. And by dinner, I mean maple sriracha pineapple. Thanks for the inspiration, Delaney! It was delicious!
I met my lady gang early on Saturday morning for a 6-mile run. It was hot, it was humid, it was bright as blazes & it was hilly. Not a personal best, but done. Afterwards, I hustled to the Y for my favorite yoga class that I can basically can never make it to anymore. It was good to be back. After yoga, Lana & I fueled up at Dose & then I got a personal tour of her new digs.
I have a lot of time on my hands right now & I'm trying to read more instead of binge-watching all of the everything. John & I are both voracious readers, but rarely read the same thing. I like vampires, he likes Vonnegut. I want John to read
The Goldfinch
, which he agreed to read if I'd read a Kurt Vonnegut book. I have no idea what criteria he used to pick the right Vonnegut book for me, but he choose wrong. This book is breaking my brain. I can't follow it. John keeps asking me where I am & how I like it & I keep saying things like, 'It's like trying to read the clouds'. Send prayers.
I joined Team CV yesterday for a 30 mile ride. This was my first ride post bike fitting. It took a minute to get used to being so high off the ground. Pro tip: If you can touch the ground while on your saddle, you're too low. Who knew?! So yeah, it freaked me out when I got on & realized I couldn't touch the ground, but I persevered. My lower back hurt towards the end of the ride & it's still sore now, so the bike may need to be adjusted, or my body just isn't used to riding at the correct height/angle. Bikes are hard, y'all.
I had to do a short, 2-mile brick after my ride, which Sarah thankfully did with me. Back in my car, I called my dad to wish him a happy father's day & my parents were in Nashville about to eat lunch, so I told them to stay put, that I was on my way. You know what's awesome after a 3 & 1/2 hour work-out? Cracker Barrel. I ordered the biggest breakfast on the menu & ate it all. It was like 4 plates of food. Whatever. My only regret is not taking this picture before eating all of breakfast.
I was about to say, well, at least that's all I ate yesterday, but then I remembered that I went to Bobbie's Dairy Dip with Lana later & sucked down a peach milkshake. Whatever, people. WHATEVER.
