10 Years of The Porch
My pathway to The Porch started in 2016 when they were still teaching out of the Refinery space in Fort-Houston. I was looking for more formal essay training and a friend pointed me to Susannah and this new thing called The Porch. With undergraduate and graduate degrees under my belt, I can confidently say that I didn’t learn how to write until I met Susannah.
In the years since, I have taken dozens of classes, performed at their annual live storytelling event, Heartbreak Happy Hour and published many essays. I also now teach at The Porch and am in my second writing group born out of writers I met at their Berry Hill outpost. Cheers to a decade of The Porch!
