Do you remember where you were on June 23, 2017? I do. I was screaming in my living room. When Sasha Velour lifted off her wig to reveal a cascade of rose petals in her lip sync against Shea Couleé, she changed the culture. Now she’s changing the culture again by coming to one of the states at the heart of anti-LGBTQ and anti-drag legislation: Tennessee.

For the Nashville Scene, I spoke to Velour about the new season of We’re Here, the heroism of the Tennessee queer community and the hope she has for the future.
